"The pain now, is part of the happiness then. That's the deal."
At peace after the Long Goodbye. Born Feb. 4, 1929 in Tallinn, Estonia. When she was very young she was a tomboy, always ripping her dresses climbing trees. As a young girl during the war, she worked on grave detail, removing tags from the dead German soldiers and preparing them for burial. Alla's family made the dreadful trek through war torn Germany to reach the American zone. In October 1948 she immigrated to Canada and in 1950 married John Dalrymple in Ottawa, on the day he was leaving for Korea. On his return, they lived in Scarborough, ON where Alla proudly became a Canadian citizen in 1955. Separated in 1963, Alla returned to Ottawa to raise their son David and daughter Linda on her own. In 1968, Alla was recruited as a founding civilian member of the Canadian Communications Security Establishment and she faithfully served our country until her retirement in 1994. She spent her retirement years first in Ottawa and finally in Midland, surrounded by friends and family. She passed away March 14, 2018 at GBGH, under the care and kindness of the amazing nursing staff there.
She is survived by son David, daughter Linda; her loving sisters Zlata and Olga and their families and her daughter-in-law, Susan. Her grandchildren, Kevin and Teaghan, were the joys of her life and will carry her memory.
Arrangements entrusted to LeClair Cremation Centre.
