It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear brother James (Jim) Armstrong at 73 years old in his sleep on Monday July 24, 2017 at the Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre in Barrie, Ontario. Pre-deceased by his father Clifton (1995), mother Marjorie (1992) and brother John (1986). Jim is survived by his sister Barbara (Maurice), brother Alan, sister-in-law Carole, nephews & nieces Matthew, Nicole, Andrew, Amy, Debbie & John Jr. Cousins Diane, Doreen, Terrance, Shimera, Joan, and Nancy.
Jim experienced lifelong health problems beginning in 1943 when he contracted poliomyelitis. He was always optimistic and never complained about his health. Even though he was physically challenged, for many years he completed the Midland Terry Fox walk for cancer. He will be remembered by those who knew him as a gentle and kind person with an absolutely wonderful smile and superb disposition. As well he was a stout Toronto Maple Leaf and Toronto Blue Jay fan attending games when possible.
Many thanks to the Staff at Hillcrest Long Term Care Home, Sarah Vista LTCH and the Villa LTCH., Dr. Richard Thomas, Dr. Larry McCutcheon, Dr. Mark Grundmanis, Dr. Joseph Tavernier, Staff at Georgina Bay General Hospital (Midland) and Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre ICU (Barrie) and Dr.s Chris Martin and Stewart Aitken (RVRHC).
