With sadness, we share the passing of our mom. After several years of declining heath, she took her last peaceful breath on Thursday, March 8th with her family by her side.
Madge was born in Hull, England and was the last surviving of her 9 siblings. She immigrated to Canada in 1958 with her husband and 2 children. Starting their journey in Elmvale and moving throughout central Ontario and British Columbia where she raised her family and finally settle in Wyevale in 1989.
Madge leaves behind her husband of 64 years, David. Madge will be dearly missed by her 6 children; Patricia (Doug) Bartman, David (Marilyn) Moon, Kathleen (Reginald) Phillips, Graham (Gayle) Moon, Tracy (Richard) Grey and Robert (Laura) Moon. Madge was the proud grandmother of 11 and great-grandmother to 3.
Through the years, Madge was committed to growing the family business (Wye Nursery Ltd.) and was up and ready to get her hands dirty in the soil 7 days a week. Of all the things she helped to grow through the years, her favourite was always seeing her grandkids. She was blessed to have met several other local Brits who became lifelong friends.
Thank you to the Staff at Hillcrest Village in Midland for welcoming Madge the past 2 1/2 years and giving her a new place to call home. Thank you to Charge Nurse Jennifer Charlebois for you care and compassion as Madge bravely fought through so many up and downs. Thanks to Susan LeClair (LeClair Cremation Centre) for your patience, professionalism and understanding.
Cremation has taken place at Madge's request. The family will be planting a memorial garden on the family farm. A celebration of life will take place in the summer.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
