James George Walsh, 88, of Midland, Ontario passed away on Tuesday, May 7th, 2019 surrounded by his family and close friends. Jim is survived by his son Jimmy, daughters Coleen (Bill), Maureen and Eileen and his granddaughter Ryley (Raphael), as well as his brothers Desi, Noel and Vince and his sister Joan and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife Helen who he married in 1956, his brother Jack, sisters Kathleen, Jean and Ann. He was born to parents Christine and John Walsh on November 2, 1930 in Dublin, Ireland. Jim was a loving father, grandfather and friend to many. He came to Canada by himself at the tender age of 22 to make a better life for himself, and that he did. He was a respected self-employed painter for half a century. Our Dad loved to sing. He was a man of music and he continued to sing to anyone who would listen until the very end. He had the best sense of humour and in his spare time he would teach himself to play any musical instrument he could get his hands on. He was a simple man who didn’t need much more than his family, music and mashed potatoes. A special thank you to all of the caregivers at Georgian Bay General Hospital for their loving care and support during his final days. Funeral services for Jim will be at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Midland, Ontario on Friday, May 10th at 2:00 P.M. followed by a Celebration of Life at the Royal Canadian Legion.
