Passed away peacefully at home in Wyebridge surrounded by his loving family, after a long courageous battle with lung cancer in his 72nd year.
He will be sadly missed by his loving wife June (nee Reid), daughters Terry (Dan) McIntosh and Cari (Adam) Schmeler. Proud Poppa of Sidney, Curtis and Finn who were his pride and joy.
Loving brother of Delores (John). Brenda (John), Raymond (Tami), Susie (Jules) sister-in-law Eden (late Jim). Predeceased by parents Henry and Agnes and siblings Harry, Frank & Ramona. Will be missed by his many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as June’s siblings and their families. His nieces always said that he gave the best hugs ever.
John was an avid Outdoors Man enjoying hunting and fishing. He was a member of the North Simcoe Hunters & Anglers and Georgian Bay Bass Masters. He loved the outdoors.
A special thank you to Dr. Peter Cameron, not only John’s physician but a good friend, to the nurses from Bayshore- Bernie Lou, Lori, Mary Ellen, Megan and Jennifer, also to Dr. Dawn Ng at the Royal Victoria Hospital Cancer Centre.
Cremation has already taken place under the care of LeClair Cremation Centre. A graveside service will be held Thursday, July 19, at 11 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Cemetery, 809 Yonge Street, Midland, Ontario. A luncheon will follow at the home of Susie and Jules Duquette, 19 County Road 6 North, Perkinsfield. All are welcomed.
Donations to the Royal Victoria Cancer Centre, Heart and Stroke Foundation or a charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family in John’s memory.
