David Anderson IV

September 15, 1940 ~ April 15, 2021 (age 80)

Death notice

David Anderson IV, died peacefully at home at the age of 80 surrounded by his family. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Charlene Anderson (née McCallum), his three children David V (Wendy), Andrew (Lara), and Christine (Dan), and his ten grandchildren, Steve, Max, Morgan (Andrey), David VI (Brenda), Amy, Glenn, Storm, Huxley, Schaefer, and Cordelia. Dave was a natural artist who loved painting, woodworking, writing, and above all photography. The walls of his house and the family’s accounting firm, Anderson & Anderson, are covered with the copious pictures he took traveling and cruising around the world with Charlene and his children. Pressed for his favourite trip he answered it was the cruise to China in 2009, but asked what his favourite picture was he quickly stated it was the flying horse from the Calgary Stampede. He spent most of his adult life learning and lecturing on how and why businesses work. His natural storytelling ability helped create captivating lectures for a variety of different companies including Beaver Lumber, Shell, the LCBO and the Midland Chamber of Commerce. It was, however, around the living room, dining room table, or campfire when the best stories, often full of humour, surfaced. Dave volunteered with the Conservative Party of Canada in the Simcoe North riding and played a pivotal role in all campaigns for MP Bruce Stanton, a current Deputy Speaker of the House. While Parkinson’s took many things from Dave in the final years of his life, the one thing it could not take was his sense of humour. He was often heard to joke to his children’s and grandchildren’s partners to “Never get married, and if you do, never have kids” - None of them listened. Instead they followed his example of making time spent with family the most cherished part of life.

Please feel free to share your favourite story of Dave on the Tribute Wall.
